Shipping & Returns

Shipping Policy

We strive to fulfill orders in a timely manner. During peak shipping season - Thanksgiving to Christmas - please allow two weeks for your order to be fulfilled. We are often able to fill orders more quickly and will, when possible. We typically roast coffee once a week.

​Various Service levels – (i.e. Next Day Air, Second Day Air, etc.) – should NOT be considered fees for expedited order processing. The service levels (i.e. Next Day Air, Second Day Air, etc.) should be understood as the estimated time in transit - per carrier terms - once the package has been tendered to UPS or FedEx. One should NOT expect an order placed via Second Day Air – for example – to be delivered two days after placing an order. We require time to process and ship the order. During peak shipping season - from Thanksgiving until Christmas - please allow two weeks for order fulfillment.

 

Saturdays and Sundays should not be considered transit days. For example, a Second Day Air shipment that we ship on a Thursday would ordinarily - barring unforeseen circumstances such as weather delays, etc. - be scheduled for delivery on the following Monday. Please note that we are unable to refund shipping & handling fees if a package is delayed in transit for whatever reason (weather, high volume carrier delay, etc).

​We have very limited personnel and requests to ship orders on a particular date or to delay shipments until just before Christmas cause us many logistical challenges.  Unless absolutely necessary, please allow us to ship your order as soon as we are able. Additionally, because of shipping delays in recent years, requests for delivery just before Christmas are difficult to fulfill, even if we ship it at what we think the appropriate time.  We are unable to make delivery guarantees in general and orders with requests to hold until close to Christmas have a great likelihood of being delivered after the first day of Christmas (December 25th).

 

​If you require delivery by a particular date, please include the particulars in the comments section of checkout. We will do our best to accommodate such requests.  We also recommend sending us an email (skete@societystjohn.com) after you place your order providing the order number and the requested delivery date. This is especially helpful during the peak shipping season (i.e. Thanksgiving to Christmas) – when we may not notice order comments right away.

 

​Shipping costs displayed during checkout on our website should not be considered published carrier rates. Shipping costs on our website may include handling fees to cover packaging materials, weekly pickup fees, etc.

 

​Please ensure that your shipping address is complete and accurate at the time of order. Please include suite or apartment numbers. Once orders have been shipped, we are unable to re-route packages to alternate addresses.

​

If an order is returned to us by the shipping company (i.e. undeliverable due to bad address or refused by recipient) we reserve the right to deduct any return shipping costs that are assessed by the shipping company from your refund. We also reserve the right to deduct credit card processing fees from your refund.

Return & Exchange Policy

  1. If you wish to cancel your order: You can request cancellation by email (skete@societystjohn.com) before your order has been shipped.  Please note that an email cancellation request is only a REQUEST: we do not guarantee that we will be able to cancel your order prior to shipment.  Once an order has been shipped, it cannot be cancelled.  A full refund - minus credit card processing fees - will be given if we are able to cancel your order prior to shipment;  When your order has already been shipped, some goods may be returned in accordance with clause 4.

  2. Some goods ordered from us can be returned (see exclusions in cause 4) within 14 days of receipt for a refund – less shipping and handling. The costs of returning goods to us shall be borne by you.

  3. Upon receipt of the goods we will process a refund of the amount paid – less shipping and handling.

  4. The ability to return the goods to us as referred to in numbers 2 and 3 will not apply in the following circumstances: to any product that is perishable (i.e. bakery, confections, fruitcakes, nut trail mix, etc.); in the event that the product has been used; to any products that we have made or customised specifically for you.

  5. If an order is returned to us by the shipping company (i.e. undeliverable due to bad address or refused by recipient) we reserve the right to deduct any return shipping costs that may be assessed by the shipping company from your refund.
